| Frequently asked questions Many of you have asked these questions so we decided to create this page. As more questions come in, we'll update this page so keep visiting to learn more information about Your Gospel Station. Q. Why doesn't WYGS support local artists more and play them on the radio? A. We certainly support and appreciate our local artists, many of whom volunteer or work for WYGS. We offer web site advertising on the Bulletin Board and Event Calendar pages and announce their performances on the air at no cost to the artist. We also have a daily program called "The Local Spotlight at 7" in which we spotlight local talent. Some regional artists are now also played in regular rotation. All artists, professional or local, must meet certain vocal, musical, & project quality standards. The fact is, we obviously can't play everthing that is submitted. We strive to keep our programming professional quality. Q. Why does WYGS play the same songs over and over? A. WYGS is a top-40 station which basically means that every 4-5 hours you'll hear the songs that are in our top 40 charting rotation. This is the same format used by the other top gospel stations and other secular stations in the industry. However, unlike most other stations, we actually have 4 additional rotations that include other songs from past classics to what we believe will be future classics and those special songs that aren't a "hit" but speak to the heart. All the rotations weave in and out of each other so you get a better overall variety. Q. Why doesn't WYGS tell the group name and song title of each song? A. Another excellent question! This is probably the most asked question to date. Obviously, when we don't have a live host, we can't provide that info. When we do have a live host on the air, they do try to announce this info. However, the djs stay very busy just trying to get everything in during their shift. It's not like the good old days when you had a microphone and a record player. The djs now have to monitor TWO computer systems running simultaneously, a cd player for special requests, the telephone to take your requests, weather info, announcements, and a broadcast console with umpteen buttons and levers to keep all of the previously listed things running smoothly. So, as you can see, it's not easy to always remember to say title and group. An option is for you to visit the TOP 40 page on our web site and it should give you most of the info you need. Or, just give us a call and we'll get the information for you. Q. What do I do if I want to give a love gift to WYGS? A. We would certainly appreciate any love gift as we're listener-supported. And of course, a check in the mail is fine...and thanks! Q. Does WYGS plan to add more djs for more live shift? A. Yes, we would like to have additional live shifts. We've tried to cover the "prime times" for now until we are financially able to add shifts. (Prime times = morning and afternoon drives to & from work.) Please continue to pray with us about this. Q. What can I do if WYGS plays a song that I really don't like? A. We do play to a large audience and we will, of course, never agree on all the same groups or song styles. However, if it's a more serious issue that needs to be brought to our attention, please do so. We have received information on artists and songs and, after researching, those artists and/or songs have been removed from our programming. Q. Can my church book the WYGS Trio to sing? A. The WYGS Trio was created specifically to perform at WYGS events. Each member has their own ministry which, when added to the WYGS events, keep them very busy and doesn't allow for outside bookings.
