FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police Department, Edinburgh Police Department, Greenfield Police Department, and Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office have successfully carried out another “Child Predator Sting Operation.” It is the latest in a series of ongoing efforts to identify, arrest, and charge people attempting to exploit and victimize children.
Johnson County law enforcement agencies have once again taken action to intercept individuals before they can target children for heinous crimes such as solicitation, molestation, and human trafficking.
This week, from Tuesday, September 24, to Thursday, September 26, a total of 22 individuals from Johnson, Marion, Monroe, Hamilton, Madison, Owen, and Shelby Counties were arrested for charges including Child Solicitation, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Public Indecency.
These arrests are the latest in a series of sting operations where we previously arrested 10 individuals in December 2020, 8 in April 2021, 11 in May 2022, 20 in November 2022, and 32 in April 2023. Each of these 127 individuals arrested is another predator removed from the streets and countless potential victims being spared from future harm.
This success is due to the collaboration between local law enforcement agencies and the Prosecutor’s Office. Sheriff Duane Burgess, Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran, Edinburgh Police Chief Doyne Little, and Prosecutor Lance Hamner have combined resources and expertise to carry out a coordinated response to the threat predators pose.
Sheriff Duane Burgess said, ” We continue to act with urgency to prevent these individuals from harming children. Each arrest we make is one less predator in our community, and that’s a step toward ensuring the safety of our children.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies will continue these operations, committed to protecting the community’s children and ensuring those who seek to do them harm face justice.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
