SEYMOUR, Ind – Rose Acre Farms, a leading egg producer in the country located in southern Indiana, has reported cases of the bird flu at its Cort Acre Egg Farm in Seymour.
According to their Facebook page, Rose Acre noticed mortality on Saturday, January 25, and sent samples to be tested. They also implemented further biosecurity steps to their already established, stringent protocols. These samples came back positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), commonly known as bird flu.
Rose Acre Farms says it is working with the Indiana State Board of Animal Health and the state veterinarian on best practices to combat the risk of spreading HPAI to other birds, and they will continue at all facilities.
The Indiana State Board of Animal Health is monitoring the situation. The USDA is monitoring animal infections and the CDC is monitoring human infections.
