COLUMBUS, Ind. — A tornado was spotted in Bartholomew County yesterday evening.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), just before 9 p.m., a confirmed tornado was located seven miles east of Columbus. According to reports, Bartholomew County Emergency Management and NWS said that Newbern, Hartsville, Elizabethtown, Grammer, Hope, Azalia, Walesboro, Ceraland, Jonesville, the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, and Petersville areas have all been impacted.
As of 5:30 a.m., S.R. 9 is closed due to debris. It is recommended to stay on U.S. 31. U.S. 36 has reopened.
Multiple residents have been reported to be without power.
