COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Area Visitors Center has announced an exhibition opening reception and book signing event celebrating the work of acclaimed architect Marlon Blackwell this Friday, March 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Visitors Center, 506 Fifth St., in Columbus.
The exhibition explores the body of work featured in Radical Practice: The Work of Marlon Blackwell Architects, a monograph published in June 2022. The book and exhibition highlight the firm’s commitment to design excellence, showcasing projects that emerge from outside the traditional centers of architectural culture.
The evening includes a book signing with Marlon Blackwell and a talk highlighting the firm’s methodology. His practice proposes an open-ended, generous, and provocative vision of what a “radical” can mean in the contemporary architectural landscape.
In addition to the projects featured in the monograph, Marlon Blackwell Architects is now designing the new air traffic control tower for the Columbus Municipal Airport, continuing the city’s legacy of bold, forward-thinking architecture. Process drawings and a physical model of the tower will be included in the exhibition, offering visitors an inside look at the design evolution of this project.
Admission is free, and the reception/book signing is open to the public.
