COLUMBUS, Ind. – A 24-year-old Bartholomew County man has been incarcerated for voyeurism after police were called to a local gym regarding someone recording images in the women’s room.
The Columbus Police Department (CPD) responded to Total Fitness, 3075 Middle Rd., just after 8 p.m. on Thursday. Officers were told that an eight-year-old female allegedly saw someone holding a cell phone under her showering stall. Employees supposedly found Tanner Vandeman, of Columbus, inside a women’s shower stall.
Employees and bystanders stayed with the suspect until the officers arrived. CPD reportedly discovered the man had recording equipment with him and also learned that he had been convicted of voyeurism in the past. Several electronic devices were confiscated, and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted.
Vandeman was arrested for voyeurism (level 6 felony). He remains in the Bartholomew County Jail. The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges are possible.
All charges are accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
