NORTH VERNON, Ind. – River Valley Legal Aid is holding a free Legal Aid Walk-In Clinic on Tuesday, May 20, at the Jennings County Public Library, on State Highway 3, in North Vernon, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Attendees can receive legal advice at no cost about adoptions, family law (child support modification, custody, divorce, parenting time, guardianships, landlord/tenant (evictions, habitability issues), powers of attorney, protective orders, simple wills, and small estates. Questions about criminal law will not be entertained.
The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program utilize local volunteer attorneys, offering free legal consultations to low-income individuals. The goal is to give equal access to justice to those within the community who might not otherwise be able to afford counsel.
Individuals coming to the free Legal Aid Clinic on May 20 receive a 10-minute consultation to answer general and eviction questions, offer legal information, or receive other limited pro se assistance or advice, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.
