MILWAUKEE – The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has unveiled the first bobblehead featuring Indiana University’s new mascot, Hoosier the Bison, early Tuesday morning, July 22.
The officially licensed, limited-edition bobblehead is being released in conjunction with IU’s reinstatement of its mascot after a nearly 60-year hiatus.
Hoosier the Bison will officially make its return at the first home football game of the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30, at Memorial Stadium.
The bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Indiana University in Bloomington, and are now available at its online store here.
All the details are below:
- The bobbleheads are expected to ship in January and are available at this link
- Each bobblehead will be individually numbered
- The bobbleheads are $35 each plus an $8 flat-rate shipping charge per order
- Standing on a circular base bearing its name, the Hoosier the Bison bobblehead is wearing a crimson sweater adorned with the IU logo along with crimson and cream striped pants.
- On July 14, Hoosier the Bison was revealed as the official mascot of IU; the original bison mascot debuted at the school’s final home football game of 1965 and was retired after the 1969 season
- The mascot’s homecoming is a result of the “Bring Back the Bison Act” passed by the Indiana University Student Body Congress on December 16, 2024
- Why a bison? Indiana and the bison have been linked for over two centuries. It first appeared on official 1801 Indiana Territory court documents, 15 years before Indiana became a state in 1816
- The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee opened in 2019 and produces customized bobbleheads for retail sale and organizations, individuals, and teams across the country
