NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Two Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Deputies saved a choking man utilizing a LifeVac device on Sunday, September 14.
Deputy Bill Carter and Sergeant Michael Watts responded to a medical emergency in the eastern part of Jennings County after receiving a 911 call of a male choking.
Deputies began life-saving efforts using both the Heimlich Maneuver and the LifeVac. They were able to successfully dislodge the obstruction and restore the victim’s ability to breathe.
According to the LifeVac website, “LifeVac is a simple, safe, and effective choking rescue device that can help save a life in the event of a choking emergency. The EMS Kit is specifically designed for professional first responders, including police, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.”
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office states that the LifeVac tool has proven to be a valuable resource for the Sheriff’s Office, providing Deputies with an additional method to aid in critical life-saving measures.
