COLUMBUS, Ind. – In October of 2024, members of the Bartholomew County Sheriff‘s Office and Columbus Police Department responded to a report of an accident near the intersection of E County Road 450S and State Road 11/Jonesville Road, where one individual was subsequently lifelined from the scene.
Bradley Dewees was the driver of the second vehicle. Further investigation was conducted, with law enforcement determining that Dewees was intoxicated. He was subsequently charged with Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
The Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office reported that Dewees was convicted of Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Level 5 Felony) on May 2.
He was penalized to an aggregate 4-year sentence by Judge Jonathon Rohde of the Bartholomew Superior Court 2. Dewees will serve 2.5 years in the Department of Corrections and 1.5 years on a Community Corrections placement. The Sentencing Range for a Level 5 Felony is one to six years.
