COLUMBUS/SEYMOUR, Ind. – A 32-year-old Chicago woman was apprehended Monday afternoon following a car chase on I-65 in Jackson and Bartholomew Counties.
An Indiana State Police (ISP) trooper patrolling I-65 near Seymour at around 5:15 p.m. observed a northbound vehicle traveling well over the posted speed limit. He caught up and attempted to pull the car over in northern Jackson County, but the driver, Dominique White, 32, failed to stop and sped north on I-65.
More ISP troopers, plus officers from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office and Columbus Police Department, joined the pursuit.
The suspect continued until her vehicle was checked by a tractor-trailer driving slowly in front of her car near the 67-mile marker on the west side of Columbus. She was then forced to stop and was taken into custody without further incident.
A four-month-old child, not properly restrained, and three other occupants were inside the vehicle.
White was arrested and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on the preliminary felony charges of Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle and Neglect of a Dependent. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of Reckless Driving. The other people in the vehicle were released.
