FRANKLIN, Ind. – Johnson County Coroner Mike Pruitt and the Coroner’s Office recently released the department’s statistics for March and April. The graphs provide the numbers and manner of deaths in the county, as well as a breakdown by first response agency, age, gender, and accident type.
In March, 21 people died in Johnson County, with all but one death from natural causes. There was one death due to overdose. Those passing encompassed the 30-39 age range to the 90+ age range, with the majority of those passing being in the 70-79 age range (three men, four women).
Greenwood Police responded to six calls, with Franklin Police responding to five. There were five deaths accounted for at Johnson Memorial Health.
In April, 26 people passed in the county; 20 from natural causes, five from overdose, two by suicide, and one undetermined. Those passing encompassed the under-18 age range to the 90+ age range, with the majority of those passing being in the 70-79 age range (six men, two women). Greenwood Police responded to 11 calls, with Franklin Police and Johnson County Sheriff’s responding to six each.
As of April 30, 2025, 99 people had died in Johnson County during the first four months of the calendar year, the highest in that period since 2022.
