COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) has updated the community on Envision 2030 renovations at Schmidt Elementary, Northside Middle, and Smith Elementary Schools. This summer is the busiest construction season in the corporation’s history.
A recent BCSC video was released showing Envision 2030 construction is well underway at Schmitt Elementary—one of the most historic and beloved schools in its district. There are six phases in the project, three of which are complete, and Phase 4 will be finished soon. Phases 5 and 6 in the renovation will be completed in 2026. This multi-phase refurbishing is creating flexible, modern spaces that support how students learn today, while honoring the legacy of this important building. Schmitt Elementary is being transformed to meet the needs of today’s learners while preserving the architectural character that makes it unique.
BCSC also shared an Envision 2030 video about the progress at Northside Middle and L. Frances Smith Elementary Schools. At Northside, work is underway on one of the largest projects to date that reflects 21st-century learning goals.
More Envision 2030 videos are promised this month, highlighting the upgrades at Richard L. Johnson Early Learning Center, Central Middle School, and Columbus East and North High Schools.
